Frequently Asked Questions -
Last Updated: December 26, 2011

Periodically check in here to read the latest FAQS.

Q1   When and why was this CB Internet Group site created?
A. The CB Internet Group website started 15+ years ago, first with just an Owners'-only Message Board, and later with a full 24/7 Owner-only subscriber accessible website, primarily to assist in the communication between Owners, and between the Covered Bridge Association (HOA) and its Owners.
Written ("official" per FL718) communication between the HOA Board and its Owners remains pretty much non existent, except for Board meetings and their poorly documented minutes.   Many of the Owners are "snowbirds", or remain off campus a good part of the year. CB news is scarce, rumors abound, and speculation is rampant.   Any method in this day and technological age of instantaneous communication around the world, which can improve upon how and what accurate information, albeit "unofficial"; that can be communicated to, from, and among the Owners and the HOA and public, can only be an improvement.

Q2   Why do I need to get a free Google Account with password to contribute content online (vs. via email) to this site?
A.  You don't, unless you want to directly update information to the site.   If you prefer, you can email your information to SiteAdmin, and it will be updated for you.  This site is hosted by Google and uses their software.   To provide you with easy 24/7 direct access to Owner-only areas, a Google password assigned and maintained by you, is required.   Registering youself for a free Google account using your current regular email address as your ID, allows for you to control your access.   You do not need to have Google gmail or a coveredbridgecondo.com email address; register your current email addy as your ID.   If you have questions or need help, ask

Q3   What if I make mistakes playing around on the Site, will I damage, delete by mistake, or destroy anything?
A. No.

There is nothing you can do to this site, that cannot be easily restored/corrected with a few clicks of the mouse.

Feel free to make mistakes, that is how you will learn. Stuff you entered wrong can be changed at any time.

Use the resources of tutorials available.

If you prefer, simply email your site updates to SiteAdmin; and if you have questions or need help, ask.

Q4   Can I write articles, post messages, or contribute other content to the CB Internet Group site; and is this material moderated or edited in any way?
A.  Any CB Owner who "joins" the Group may use this Site any way they see fit.
If you need assistance with adding content of any kind, email Site Admin; see the General Instructions, Site Tutorials, and when signed-in, the 'Help' box in the upper right corner of every page. None of your content is moderated or edited (unless it is determined to violate Google's T&C or Site's T&C).

Q5   How can I receive notification of updates to this Site?
You can receive notifications of updates by changing settings for page changes, message board posts, or receive updates via RSS feeds to your favorite reader.
Subscribe to keep current with the latest 'Announcements'.  To follow Owner newsfeeds, add site as your Facebook friend.

Q6   How can I use this site to get better information to and from other Owners?
A.  That pretty much depends on to whom and what you want to communicate.
The Announcements feature is available to have your item posted and made available to all who read them.  Subscribe to keep current with the latest 'Announcements'.   The CB Internet Group @ Facebook - "Internet Group - Covered Bridge Condo FL 33467" is available for private, owner only social networking, away from other non-CB Facebook Friends.

CB Clubs, Committees, and Groups can use the CBers Topics pages to post their items; whether it be the weekly bowling scores or photos/video of that perfect game. Items you have for sale can be posted to the Yard Sale page.   Would you like to see more information online (especially when you are off campus), details of the happenings, photos, items you can share with friends and family, and to suggest what you would like to be available here?
Then select the topic, call or email the contact person for the activity, and request they select the
"email updates to this page"
link; and if you have anything to add, please use the link on the page, submit the updated information yourself, and share it with others.

You can online social network. Owners known to be on Facebook are listed here.   The icon  next to a person's name anywhere on this site will link you to them on Facebook.

Specific features can be set up for you; for example, say you have to solicit and collect dues for your club or event. A one(1) email PayPal invoice can be emailed to all requesting payment; and the payment sent (cash debit, check, charge) will be deposited directly into a bank account.
Just email Site Admin with your requirements.

Q7   How can I use this site to get better and more timely information to and from the CB Management Office, the CB Board members, and the CB Association?
A.  That pretty much depends on you and those individuals and entities.
This site is open and available to any CB individual and contractor/consultant, be they Board Directors, Seacrest, Accountant, Auditor, Legal Counsel, etc.
The "official" CB Association Site (and any other contractor/consultant site) can be easily linked to and from this Internet Group Site.
Example: Complying with the FL718 requirement of providing each Owner a free copy of the year-end (budget v. actual detail account) financial statement, allows for the Associations' financial reports from Seacrest Accounting to be posted on a website, and made available online (under password protection).
Remember, if you are a "snowbird", the CH 63 TV messages, doorstep, and court mailbox postings don't do you much good, and are not "official" (per FL718) CB Association binding notifications. Having to send a certified letter to try to get the information you need, and still only hope for a reply, isn't much better.
If interested, suggest you get the Association Board to change its position on these matters, formulate the requirements, then email Site Admin.

Q8   Can I use this site to create and update my own personal or business homepage, blog, storefront, whatever; and have it hosted here?
A.  Yes.
You might first want to consider as a starter using Facebook.com for a personal homepage and Blogger.com for that personal web log; and those pages can be linked to from here, or embeded into a page on this site just for you, at any time.   Use the page specific URL (internet address) created to communicate to others where your page can be found, and notify Site Admin. if you want the page
● bulleted in the navigation sidebar.   A personal homepage here provides you the opportunity to share your hobby, collectibles photos, home videos, music compositions, publish your writings, display your paintings, etc., and share them with your neighbors and the public.
For those who want to advance even further: you can host your page(s) here, register your own www  internet Domain Name, and anyone browsing the web using your unique domain name url will be automatically forwarded to your page here. An example might be - your 'www.business-or-club.org'.
Email SiteAdmin if you want more details.

Q9   Can I use this site to do fundraising and promote the events for my Club, Group, Committee. etc.
A.  Yes.
Add any content you want to a page(s) you create.  In the text, link to other internet websites to generate interest (like the website of the restaurant where the event is taking place). Add photos or any other media.   In addition, the Business Directory here can be used to generate fundraising money for you with every advertiser you get to sponsor a site page or post their logo with a link to their site.

Q10  What are the privacy policies and concerns on this site?
A.  Any HOA or Owner information that is in the public domain and is available elsewhere on the internet, or available in other media, may be linked to or otherwise made accessible on this site. Examples are the PBC Appraiser info of Covered Bridge owners, CB condo real estate listings, owners' websites, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.
Owners' email addresses are not in the public domain, and if known, will not be made available. You may email Site Admin to request that you would like to contact another owner by email; and if their email address is known, your request will be forwarded to them.

Q11  How do I unsubscribe from this site, no longer receive message board notification email, CB @ Facebook posts in my News Feed,  or general distribution email from SiteAdmin?
A.  You have total control over what you send to, or receive from, your CB Internet Group, while you are an Owner at Covered Bridge.
  • If you no longer want to read what is of general community interest & benefit, or the communications between other Owners, simply stop accessing the site and its pages,  and posts to the message board - discussion forum.   If you receive an email in your Inbox you identify as from a CB resident, and do not want to be bothered with it, do not open it, and just delete it.
  •  As a Facebook Friend to Internet Group SiteAdmin  & the CB Internet Group @ Facebook private group's News Feed; you first had to confirm the site's Friend Request to be able to network with each other via Facebook.  You will need to go to your Facebook Friend's list and "Unfriend", and your Facebook Group  list and "Leave group".   If your confirmation is pending, you will still have to "Delete" the Friend request to remove seeing further posts on your Facebook News Feed.
  •  To stop all further general "Distribution" email from SiteAdmin, click the "Contact List > Email SiteAdmin" box at the very top of this page, and authorize removal of your name and the specific google account ID email address from all future emails.
  •  If at a later date you decide you would like to rejoin for access to the site, for example, to post to the "CB Internet Group Hurricane / Emergency Message Board" during a hurricane emergency, select the "Join Group" box at the very top of this page.
Q12  How do I troubleshoot problems accessing site and/or pages?
A.  If you do not email SiteAdmin advising with a detail description of the problems (what did you enter, then what did you get); then the experience of accessing websites will only become more frustrating.   The Google troubleshooting help pages are excellent..    The fix could be very simple; as simple as you clearing browser cache on your computer, then closing and opening your browser.  Also, you should be doing periodic specific system maintenance on your computer to ensure that it is tuned to run most efficiently.

Q13  Who is Site Admin?
A.  SiteAdmin can be any CB Owner who wants to volunteer, has the geeky skills to want to learn about Google Sites, wants to advocate for better communication in Covered Bridge for ALL its residents, be they on campus or not, and has the skills and experience to want to try to pull it off,   Volunteers to assist with this Site are always needed and welcomed; as is, any size donation to show your support and help defray the site's expenses, is very much appreciated.
